Judy Bowers began what has now become the Foundations in Wisdom (FIW) series with the Wisdom for Little Lambs program in 1985. She saw the need to teach children—even the youngest ones—what they need to know MOST in ways they learn BEST. Beginning with natural learning of the children’s names, body parts, colors, numbers and letters, Judy developed the Little Lambs program for 2- to 3-year-olds, and soon with infants who crawled over to join in. They all loved the repetition, rhythm and rhyme of her songs and books with motions and sign language, the Lamb puppets and stories. Judy saw that natural learning is a perfect structure for teaching deeper concepts of character, faith and true confidence.

The Wisdom for Little Lambs program now includes materials for infants to kindergarten children. Songs and books with motions and sign language are used to introduce abstract concepts of God’s love and grace. As the children begin to learn scriptures, it is very important to allow them to move and involve not only hearing and speaking, but also seeing and touching! With our Little Lambs program, we are gradually introducing basic sign language as a visual way of expressing the spoken word. For example, we begin in the Jesus Gives book, teaching basic movements that are incorporated into scriptures in the Jesus Is book.

Our Little Lambs program provides children with a concrete way to learn and experience lessons from the Word of God that inspire faith, character and true confidence.
